2. Chapter 2: Player Registration and Team Formation

   2.11. TRYOUTS
               
Tryouts may be held by competitive teams from July 1 until the first day o
                recreational team sign-ups for the fall outdoor season. Those teams holding
                tryouts may advertise their tryouts. Their advertisements may contain only the
                following:

                    1. Team name, age group, and club affiliation
                   
2. Geographic area served by the team
                   
3. Season of tryout, dates, and times
                   
4. Location of tryouts, with directions if necessary
                   
5. Coach’s complete name and telephone number and/or the contact
                        person’s name and telephone number
                   
6. Coach's USSF, USYS, NTSSA, and/or NSCAA badge level, if desired.
                    7. Notes regarding seasonal need for a release, if necessary.
                   
8. What to bring such as water, ball, etc.
                   
9. Recruiting may be defined as - Committing to or on behalf of a team, a
                        club, a player, or a coach for the upcoming soccer year prior to July 1,
                        whether in writing or otherwise, or requesting or requiring a
                        commitment to or by a team, club, player, or coach for the upcoming
                        soccer year prior to July 1 whether in writing or otherwise.  (Note:  A
                        coach requesting a returning player to state his intention concerning
                        returning the following soccer year, or a player inquiring about his
                        status on the team for the following year is permissible prior to July 1,
                        but the commitment is not binding on either the player or coach.)

                NOTE: Advertisement is defined as ‘any notification of tryouts on television,
                radio, the Internet, periodicals, newspaper articles, notices posted in public
                places, flyers, circulars, e-mail, or direct mailing.’ The distribution of any team
                fact sheet, club information brochures, coaches’ resumes, or the like, at
                tryouts shall not constitute advertising.
