3. Chapter 3: FIFA Laws of the Game
        Games sanctioned by the Lubbock Soccer Association will be played under the
        rules published in the current edition of FIFA Laws of the Game (or its successor
        publications) except as modified by the Lubbock Soccer Association with the
        permission of the North Texas State Soccer Association and the United States
        Youth Soccer Association. The following modifications to the current edition of Laws
        of the Game are the rules which will be enforced in Lubbock Soccer Association
        league play.

    Modifications to the Laws

3.6    3v3 Playing Rules (not Under 5 or Under 6 season play)

    FIFA RULES APPLY IF NOT MODIFIED BELOW

    3.6.1    Number of Players
               3 is maximum number of field players.  No goal keepers.  With Referee's
               permission substitutions may be made by either team at any dead ball situation.
               Players must enter and leave at mid-field

    3.6.2    Goal Area
                The goal area is directly in front of the goal.  No player may touch the ball within
                the goal area, however any player may move through the goal area.  Any part of
                the ball or player's body on the line is considered in the goal area; the player is an
                extension of the goal area.  If a defensive player touches the ball in the goal area,
                a goal is awarded to the offensive team.  If a defender or the ball are in the goal
                area and contact is made, a goal is awarded.  If an offensive player touches the
                within the goal area or the ball comes to a complete stop in the goal area, a goal
                kick is awarded to the defensive team.

    3.6.3    Game Duration
                3.6.3.1    Under 5 through Under 8; two 12 minute halves separated by a 2 minute
                              halftime period.  No score kept, therefore full time must be played.

                3.6.3.2    Under 9 and Under 10;  two 12 minute halves separated by a 2 minute
                              halftime period. If a team scores 12 goals, it is declared the winner and
                              the game is over.

                3.6.3.3    Under 11 and up;  two 15 minute halves separated by a 2 minute halftime
                              period. If a team scores 12 goals, it is declared the winner and the game
                              is over.

    3.6.4    Goal Scoring
               A goal may be scored only from a touch (either by the offense or defense) within
               the attacking team's offensive half of the field.  A goal may be scored directly from
               a corner kick or a penalty kick

    3.6.5    Offside
                No offside in 3v3

    3.6.6    Fouls/ Technical Violation
               Slide tackles shall be considered dangerous play and are not permitted

    3.6.7    Restarts 
                3.6.7.1    Five Yard Rule    In all dead ball situations, the defending players must
                              stand at least 5 yards from the ball.  If the defensive player's goal area is
                              closer than 5 yards, the ball shall be placed 5 yards from the goal area in
                              line with the spot of the penalty.

                3.6.7.2    Kick-ins;    The ball shall be kicked into play from the sidelines instead
                              of a throw-in.

                3.6.7.3    Indirect Kicks;    All dead ball kicks (kick-in, free kick, kick-off) are
                              indirect kicks.  Corner and penalty kicks are direct free kicks.

                3.6.7.4    Penalty Kicks:  A penalty kick shall be awarded if, in the referee's
                              opinion, a scoring opportunity was nullified by the infraction.  It is a direct
                              kick taken from the middle of the half way line with all players behind the
                              half way line. If a goal is not scored, the defense obtains possession with
                              a goal kick. Penalty kicks are not live balls.

    3.6.8    Player Sent Off
               If the player sent off was on the field of play, the team must complete the game
               with only two players on the field.  In the case of two players of the same team
               sent off, the game is terminated.
